Malcolm defends his triples title at Gundagai

Updated: Nov 2, 2022

So three years ago, Malcolm and his brother Michael Gunner along with Dave Croker (both from Weston Creek Bowling Club) entered the Gundagai Triples tournament and they won it!

In the intervening two years, due to COVID they haven't been able to run it so Mal and his team have been the winners three years running!

This weekend the boys came back to defend their title. For some reason, Mal was put as lead so they team wasn't able to fully utilise his talents. They lost the first game so the defended title was out of their grasp.

They also lost their second game but came back and won the third game. On day two they won the first game and drew the second. Alas it was too late to keep the title.

Still, lots of fun was had. The Gundagai people were very friendly. They joked around with Jean while she watched. They provided dinner the first night and a good breakfast and lunch on day two.

Weston Creek (Jean's club) had a good showing with four teams. Lots of green and gold to be seen.

We stayed at the Gundagai caravan park, an odd place with all caravan bays under cover on concrete, still, the people were lovely and it was a pleasant stay.

Thanks Gundagai!
