We're in Hamilton now for a week and have two clubs to visit. Hamilton and Grangeburn. We were told by the Grangeburn guys at Heywood that there'd be social on Wednesday. We turned up at 12:30 for 1pm and not a soul was around.

ree

We waited a while and finally Rowley turned up at 12:40.

ree

Rowley rolled up with us.

ree

There are two synthetic greens.

ree

They have owls on the green and clear plastic cats fly above.

ree

There's an impressive shade out the front.

ree

Jean said "Yay I'm coming back here to polish my bowls. They have a Bowls Polisher!"

The front green looks new. Rowley said it's been in about a year.

ree

The new green was a bit slower than the other green.

ree

Jean liked the spongy feel of the new green under foot.

ree

She won the first end

ree

And the second, third and fourth.

ree

She got ones then Mal started to get twos.

ree

And again.

ree

We didn't keep score but we'll call it a draw! It was getting hot so we finished after about eight ends.

Grangeburn - let's come back and polish our bowls!

FRIDAY

Jean sent her blog to the club via Messenger. Wendy got back and said there's bowls on Australia Day. We got our names down.

Mal wore his Melton uniform and Jean wore her Weston Creek for Green and Gold. First person we met was President Nettie who Jean's chatted with on Messenger. She was all decked out for Australia Day.

ree

We got to check out the clubhouse.

ree

Nettie plugged in the Bowls Polisher so Jean could polish her bowls.

ree

Wendy came and introduced herself.

ree

There were twenty-four players so we had four games of triples in the morning. It was Raylene, Julie and Jean

ree

Against Nettie, Sally and Irene.

ree

Mal, Jim and Rowley

ree

Played Fred, Allan and Bluey.

ree

Jean felt she bowled well. Sally said "Look at those red bowls!"

ree

We both won our games. Mal by a lot! We came inside for lunch. We'd seen people bringing plates all morning.

ree

Nettie found us Grangeburn badges.

ree

Second game Jean played Mal's team. It was Peter, Jean and Keryn.

ree

Against Irene, Mal and John.

ree

Jean continued to bowl well. She had two but Mal knocked her out and stole shot.

ree

Mal won. Then he got first prize.

ree

We left and came back at 5pm for Happy Hour. Jean donated a jar of jam for the spinning wheel.

ree

They have a thing they do called 'Joker Poker'.

ree

Mal won a bottle of wine in the spinning wheel.

ree

Then Jean won liquorice.

ree

They were a happy bunch.

ree

Grangeburn - we'd have missed all the fun if we didn't come back!
